My three-year-old spent a solid hour doing "railway repairs" with this, hooking the little construction vehicles onto the crane arm over and over. It's chunky enough for small hands to grab without me hovering, and I've noticed him working out how to line the loads up instead of just grabbing at it.
The little crane arm actually swivels and lifts, which keeps my nephew busy pretending he's fixing the tracks. I wasn't sure a 3-year-old could work the controls, but he figured it out in a day and now he's so proud of himself.
Got this for my 3-year-old and he spends ages working the crane to fix the "broken" tracks. I like that it actually makes him think through how to lift and move the parts instead of just pushing a button.
